July Studio News

Kalo Mina! Have a great August… but Yikes – where did July go exactly? My trusty ‘Postcard from Greece‘ calendar informs me that my month was variously occupied by rehearsals for four Greek dance performances; creating a couple of new, rather large, mixed media paintings, plus a bit of summer exhibition planning…  Then of course, there was the editing of course videos and participating in the live version of The Black & White Journal Course.

I was very impressed by the work of the seven other teachers on the Journaling Course. The content was really varied and great for those new to journaling as well as anyone with some journaling experience. If you love paper, pens, books and doodling, do checkout the course content HERE. Although the live period of the course has passed, the content is still very much up and running, so you can start whenever suits you and work through it all at your own pace. You have access to all course materials for about a year and the private Facebook group is nicely active, without being overwhelming – I tend to participate in it most days.

I really enjoyed making the videos for my session  “Making and Re-Purposing Quirky, Funky Line Drawings”, especially as it includes three of my favourite arty things: drawing with the non-dominant hand; blind contour drawing, plus acrylic transfer-making. Although used within the context of an artful journal on this particular course, these techniques can equally be used in creating artwork on paper, wood panels or on canvas and can open the door to a whole world of creative expression. Click Here for more information and to sign up for the online Journaling course – it would be lovely to see you there.

Hello Gill I like your work and have been inspired by the fact that you have carved out a life in Koroni. I am an English teacher originally from Greece but who has lived in the US since 1995. Have visited Koroni many times as I have dear friends in Vasilitsi! I have recently lost my teaching post and I am seriously thinking of relocating to Koroni. Any tips you would like to share or wisdom. I would love to hear from you! Thank you
