Vassilitsi-Livadakia Walk

The first hill of the day – behind Foumaristis taverna, soon rewarded us with pretty views towards Koroni, as well as the odd tantalising glimpse of the development going on at the Russian villa…

Following an old dirt track through the valley, we were soon walking on the new tarmac road parallel with the sea above Aghios Georgios and Faneromeni…

and enjoying splendid sea views….valley views….and villa views….

We took the gently ascending main road up to Vassilitsi….

where we spotted these little cheeses drying in a window, as we strolled through the back-streets of the village towards the kafeneon…

After a restorative lunch-break, (with rather chilly cloud-cover) the sun came out again as we headed uphill once more towards Livadakia…

We usually walk this lovely track in the other direction….

so it was rather pleasant to do it in reverse….

The ups were the downs….and the downs were the ups….

An unexpected ice-cream and house-tour stop was greatly enjoyed in Livadakia – courtesy of Sabine….

and we briefly paused at the Church-with-views, before taking another set of dirt tracks down to the waiting cars….

The walk clocked 12.4 kilometres on the GPS, which with a leisurely pace of 3.3kph, we completed in 3 hours 43 minutes (plus a total stopping time of 1.48hrs). Many thanks to Sabine and to Jenny for their hospitality today.
